Once or twice a week my husband likes to contribute to the dinner menu and make the dish himself. This last week he chose to make a Poached Fish with Pepper Sauce and it was delish!
One of my favorite parts of the meal, other than the fact I didn't have to make it, was the pepper sauce. It was sweet due to the peppers, savory with the spices and oils, and a little bit spicy on the back end.
Customizations
As with all my favorite dishes, the Fish in Pepper Sauce is versatile for different tastes and spice preferences. Some different ways to mix it up are:
Type of Fish: cod, swai, halibut, tilapia, salmon, sea bass
Veggies: Peppers, onions, leaks, bak choy, zucchini, squash
Spices: Sesame, cajun, italian, red pepper flakes, lemon pepper, thyme, onion powder, garlic, salt, pepper
Sides: mashed potatoes, veggies of all kinds and prepared all ways; broccoli, cauliflower, zucchinni, squash, asparagus, potatoes, spinach, etc., rice, couscous, pasta
We ended up enjoying our Poached Fish in Pepper Sauce with garlic mashed potatoes. The fish was a Swai and the peppers were red, yellow, and green belll peppers, with some yellow sweet onion. To add a little spice, my husband added some red pepper flakes to the sauce while it simmered. The fresh cilantro sprinkled on top balanced out the spicy and sweet of the pepper sauce, while the fish took on all the versatile flavors!
Try your own Fish in Pepper Sauce and let me know how it turns out!
